Vlog Off to Vlogmas

Vlogmas is a virtual event where YouTubers post a video every day of December up till Christmas Eve. Having watched my favourite Vloggers do this last year I was excited to join in and share our family’s LOVE of the holiday season.I was well prepared with a schedule of video’s to film and had daydreams of capturing all those special moments to look back on in years to come. In reality, Vlogmas has been the Grinch of Christmas that has totally stolen the fun.My hubby and Harry are fed up with feeling like they are contestants on Big Brother with a camera pointed at the 24/7 and it’s left me feeling like a Stepford Wife who needs to be camera ready with full makeup and wearing appropriately themed outfit day & night. I recently took the kids to see Santa wearing one of my best going out dresses with 10-inch heels all because the dress was silver & white and the heels made me look taller on camera. My poor blog which I have spent months nurturing and growing is now suffering from malnutrition due to not having enough hours in the day to write blogs on top of filming, editing and uploading videos. I work 4 long days a week travelling across the country , I am a wife to a very ignored husband and most of all I have 2 very active under 5’s who don’t understand why they have to stand in a shop and be filmed next to a bag of  food shopping ( dropping food off for the Food Bank & Harry point-blank refused to be filmed ) . I had taken this week off my day job to get more video’s filmed and to do some Christmas shopping as presently the bottom of the tree was going to look pretty bare on Christmas Day but as sod’s law goes both kids have been struck down with a stomach bug and my house has been on lock down. No one wants to see a video titled the ‘ Diarrhea Diaries’ ( too far ?? ) There are moments in life when we all have to give ourselves a reality check and today reality is knocking hard at my head. It’s time to put down the camera.

In Conclusion

I will give Vlogmas it’s due, it’s not all been a total disaster. Of the 20 hours of filming it’s taken so far, I have documented some truly momentous moments. Our trip to Santa though totally overdressed did capture Charley’s first real meeting with jolly St Nic and the magical look on Harry’s face could not have been truly appreciated on a photo. All that being said Vlogmas can now Vlog off and my camera can stay on charge until the New Year when I may dip my toes back into the world of YouTube. I will now be returning to my 1st love of blogging and making you laugh. So in the words of Shakespeare, ‘It’s better to have Vlogged and given up than never Vlogged at all ‘ ( I’m sure he would have said that if he was here today )

Has anything spoilt your Christmas this year and do you wish you had never done it? Comment below.

YouTube is great. My daughter tried to film me making dreamcatchers and I looked so bloody awful it has put me off vlogging! Have a wonderful Christmas. Sarah #sharingthebloglove

I like the idea of Vlogmas in theory but I can see why you needed to cut it short. I’m not sure there are enough hours in the day as it is. Would you try again next year but maybe get some of the videos done in advance? Spread the work load or would that ruin the effect? At least you got some good filming out of it X

I didn’t even attempt it and never do with things like this. The pressure to post every day is just too much! Well done for attempting it though! #sharingthebloglove

Well done on making that decision! Sometimes life is more important. I’m not a you tuber but even I’ve been romanticising about doing vlogmas!! Why!? Reading this makes me know that it’s an idiotic thing for me to think! Welcome back to blog land!! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun

I love the idea about doing a vlog but I am so scared to try it. It does sound very time consuming and with blogging, working and kids i’m struggling as it is to find hours in the day #bloggersclubuk

Honestly, I’m in awe of anyone who is brave enough to do vlogging at all, let alone have the commitment to blog/vlog every day! It sounds like you’ve captured some lovely moments through it though, and sometimes we all need to take a step back and walk away to save our sanity! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

I was planning on doing VLOGMAS and then we went and moved house on the 2nd Dec and it kind of went to pot. I tried to keep up, but we haven’t had the internet for 2 weeks. I’ve loved what I have captured and it has helped with me getting better and faster at editing so not all lost. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove x

I never started vlogging and just do the occasional video. I’ve still not done my channel video – I tried but I hated what I looked like on it, and I tried to do a vlogstars thing, but again didn’t have time to edit and publish so gave up on that idea. I just about have enough time to blog daily, so no chance with videos as well. #sharingthebloglove
