Coral Island Blackpool – Schools Out For Summer #AD

Outside Coral Island

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Coral Island Blackpool. Our previous visits were in April last year & then again at Easter this year. As a family, we love visting Coral Island so much that we decided to go again to celebrate Harry’s 7th Birthday and take Uncle Danny along with us to show him around. The main reason we keep going back is Coral Island is it’s Blackpool’s largest indoor free admission family attraction. With 4 restaurants on-site all offering #KidsEatFree 365 days a year, indoor rides, arcade games, a casino and themed family weekends, it’s a guaranteed fun-filled day out.

Food

As we have eaten at The Buccaneer a couple of times we thought we would try the Big Fish Trading Co for a traditional chippy lunch. All 3 adults sampled the fish & chips while the kids had sausage and chips. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere perfect for families and can be found near the Camel Derby.

The portions always amble, the fish was cooked in a light batter and the chips were fluffy and golden brown. For any northern’s reading this I can confirm the gravy is A* standard. The total cost for the family to eat  ( inc Uncle Danny ) with drinks was less than £25.00.  The Big Fish Trading Co would be perfect for families looking for a quick bite to eat. If your tastes are more towards steaks and Sunday roasts I would recommend a visit to The Buccaneer.

Competitions and Events

Fancy winning a £16,000 Mini? Yes, so do I ( and I entered). Between now and the 23rd August everyone walking through the Coral Island Blackpool doors can enter by simply filling in their details on a competition slip. The Mini can be found directly across from the Prize Bingo and there is always a lovely assistant on hand to help assist you with entering. If that wasn’t enough throughout the year Coral Island host free family-friendly events to help you entertain the kids. Events range from Disney themed weekends to meet & greets with Captain Jack.

Games & Rides

The kids now know their way around Coral Island to their favourite games and rides. Harry and I are slightly addicted to Bunny Rabbit Virtual Reality ride and my laughter as we play can be heard at the top of the Tower. Both the kids love the 2p machines and winning the little prizes. Lee & Uncle Danny got slightly competitive on the Camel Derby while the kids cheered them on. We have several goes on both the Pirate Flyer  & the Pirate Quest Ghost Train each time we visit while we zap a few ghosts with our lasers.

Why we love Coral Island So Much

On family days out it’s hard to entertain the whole family and Coral Island has something for everyone. For us, we make a day of it. We leave the car at home, grab a tram and enjoy a scenic ride down the prom getting off right outside Coral Island. The beauty of having so much under one roof is the family can be entertained whatever budget you have. We all start the summer holidays with a big fat bank account and dreams of faraway trips, but by mid-August, we are poor and looking for a cheap way to entertain the kids. A big pot of 2p’s, a snack at Peggy’s ( don’t forget kids eat free ) and a Disney meet & greet with the Toy Story characters can be achieved for less than £20.00.

We have always been made to feel so welcome by the staff and our days out at Coral Island are always relaxed and fun. We get to have all the fun of being a holidaymaker, only 20 minutes away from our own home. Whether you are a local or coming to Blackpool for a holiday a visit to Coral Island is a must. We will be regulars over the summer ( and entering the Mini competition each time ) and can honestly say we feel like part of the Coral Island Family.
